Description

Sheindale’s family survived the Holocaust as Partisans fighting the Nazis in the forests.

After the war, they found shelter and friends in Eschwege, a Displaced Persons camp in Germany, where they began to rebuild their lives. Soon this little girl, who became known by her Hebrew name, Yaffah and later as Yafit, began a journey that had no fear, only tears of happiness. Yaffah and her family made Aliya to Israel. Arriving on the first ship to legally reach the newly established state, they took part in building the beloved homeland of the Jewish People. It is in Israel, safe from harm, after years of turmoil and uncertainty, of wandering from place to place, that this young Jewish woman settled to start a new life in a new land.
